Types of Membership
Student Membership
Individuals who meet one of the following criteria:
-
enrolled either as full-time or part-time students, at freshman standing or higher;
-
enrolled in the equivalent of at least six (6) credit hours;
-
enrolled in a four-year or graduate institution and/or a consortium of these or a two-year community college with a matriculation agreement between it and a four-year college or university which provides for automatic acceptance of the community college students into the four-year college or university;
-
able to provide verification of a demonstrated emphasis in human resource management subjects, and
-
able to provide verification of the college or university's human resources or related degree program.
Student members may not vote or hold office in the Chapter.
Associate Membership
Individuals who meet one of the following criteria:
-
Individuals in non-exempt human resource management positions
-
individuals in a non-human resources role and who partner closely with HR in various organizations
-
as well as those who do not, meet any of the foregoing categories but have a bona fide interest in human resource management.
Associate members have voting rights and may hold a director-level position in the Chapter.
Professional Membership
Individuals who meet one of the following criteria:
-
Individuals engaged in human resource management with at least three years of experience at the exempt level;
-
Any individual holding an HR certification recognized by SHRM;
-
Any faculty member with three or more years of experience holding at least assistant professor rank in HR.

Full-time consultants with at least three years of experience as an HR practitioner
-
Full-time attorneys with at least three years of experience in counseling and advising clients on matters relating to the HR profession.
Professional Members have voting rights and may hold director- or officer-level positions in the Chapter.
Business Membership
Individuals in non-human resource lines of business, who partner closely with HR and related functionalities in various organizations, and who have a bona fide interest in the associated aspects of the human resource profession and its interaction with a business’s operational goals.
Business/Entrepreneur members have voting rights and may hold a director-level position in the Chapter.

Suggested next steps:

Attend the next monthly chapter meeting; For meeting dates and times, click here.

Participate in new member orientation. These are held in-person before each monthly chapter meeting or virtually each quarter.

Attend an HR Connect Social/Networking event.

Consider volunteering on one of our committees, at a community event, as a virtual resume coach, etc. Volunteer opportunities listed here.

Attend a board meeting to see the initiatives our leadership team is currently working on and planning for the future.
